The Beginnings Of A New Cider Orchard @ Chez Tostevin

This weekend we’ve been laying down the foundations of what I hope will be a future Cider orchard

Having started to brew my own cider in the last 2 years it’ll be great to not have to rely on other people for the raw materials to carry on this new hobby. In addition the 7 trees we’ve planted are specialised variants bred specifically as cider apples.

For the “Cider geeks”, (if such a group exists!), they were :
⇒ King of Pippins (a sweet apple) [more…]
⇒ Yarlington Mill (sweet to slightly bitter sweet) [more…]
      ⇒ Dabinett (bittersweet) [more…]
      ⇒ Tremletts bitter (bittersweet) [more…]
      ⇒ Herefordshire Redstreak (bittersharp) [more…]
⇒ Tom Putt (old English cooking apple but good for Cider too) [more…]
⇒ Bramley (more for use in yummy apple pies than Cider!)
